Fun with the Fiskars Fuse Creativity System!

you may remember me announcing, just a few weeks ago, the launch of a new, revolutionary die-cut, embossing & letter-pressing tool recently released by Fiskars called the Fuse Creativity System.

well, i'm excited to share that in just a few more days, June 18th, the Fuse will makes it's debut through it's World Launch on HSN.

the special on HSN will feature an in-depth demonstration of the Fuse Creativity System® to show you all of the creative possibilities this one-of-a-kind system offers. you’ll also have a chance to purchase a special bundle of Fuse products for just the price of the starter set! visit the HSN Channel Checker to find out when it’s on in your area.

today, i want to begin showing you exactly what i've been creating with this machine and link you up to some additional projects that some of the other Fiskars Crafting Experts have been making as well.

let me tell you, every time i turn around i'm seeing some new and exciting ways to use it!  and the types of materials that some of my fellow designers have thought to use with it will blow your mind!  i'm talking leather, tin, aluminum cans, plastic milk jugs, etc.!  wild, right!?

i'd like to focus today on sharing two projects that use the very SAME design set and letter press plate. with a little creative experimenting, i was able to create my own custom-made embellishments for a fraction of the cost of ready-mades!
on the "Never Forget" layout, i simply die-cut, embossed and letter-pressed (all in one pass through the machine) onto green cardstock, light green patterned paper and textured white cardstock.  then cut pieces of two of them apart  and layered them onto the third to build a multi-dimensional butterfly embellishment.
i won't lie....the end result made me squeal with excitement!  it looks so darling in person. sometimes that dimension is hard to convey in photographs.
you can see more detailed pictures of every step of the process in my tutorial on the Fiskars website: "Never Forget" Dimensional Butterfly Tutorial.

some of you have asked...."can i use the dies from other die-cutting systems in the Fuse?"

and the answer is ABSOLUTELY. Fiskars will offer an adapter kit (sold seperately) that gives you the appropriate plates to create the proper 'sandwich' to feed those dies through. you'll be able to use this kit with dies and plates from LifeStyle Crafts, Sizzix®, Stampin Up®, Provocraft®, Spellbinders® and Accuquilt® . the kit also works with Fiskars® Texture Plates (<----that's what i'm most excited about!).

so here's another quick project showing you the use of the same exact design set and letterpress plate.  this time i just played it down a bit by using an ink color just slightly darker than my cardstock and stamped a simple phrase in the open space.

for just a wee bit more frill, i added yellow self-adhesive rhinestones and called it good.  it was just enough bling to make it feel a little more special, but not too bulky that the card can't be put into an envelope and sent through the mail.

you can see the complete tutorial on how to put this card together from start to finish in my tutorial on the Fiskars website: "You're the Best" Butterfly Card Tutorial.

do i have you interested enough to see what else the Fuse Creativity System can do!?  if so, you'll definitely want to check out this slew of  Fuse Projects from some other amazing designers.
full disclosure: I am a freelance designer, designing for Fiskars Americas. They have provided me with the tools to complete these projects. That being said, you have my word that the opinions and techniques shown in this blog post are my own and I have NOT been paid to share here on my blog. I'm doing so only because I think my readers will be interested in learning more about the Fuse Creativity System and seeing what can be done with it!
