Myrtle Beach Layout with Beach Soiree Stamp Set (Fun Stampers Journey)

Hello, friends!

It is that time that the Spring into Summer Catalog is coming to a close which means that June 30th is your LAST CHANCE to get any of the products that are available in this catalog! Be sure to click on over to the Fun Stampers Journey Store and connect with a Journey Coach to place your order.

Before the catalog closes I wanted to share one last project using one of my favorite stamp sets, Beach Soiree (SS-0277), from this catalog and head back to my scrapbooking roots for a bit!
Beach Soiree Stamp Set SS-0277
So, I grabbed one of my favorite photos of the girls playing in the sand under the pier from a family vacation down to Myrtle Beach from a few years back which was absolute PERFECTION paired with these stamps.

I used a well-loved technique of mine for adding visual texture to the background of a layout without adding a lot of bulk, which is adding multiple small die-cut tone-on-tone circles.  I just did this using the smallest circle from the Journey Circles Die Set. It doesn't take long to cut them if you double up the layers of cardstock and if you also cut a few each time you make a pass while cutting the other stamped/die-cut elements for this layout. (Also, a little cheater tip:  The circles were added last so that I didn't have to cover the area that is covered by the Whip Cream Cardstock! HUGE time saver!)

The stamped elements from the Beach Soiree Stamp Set were all stamped using Clear Pigment True Color Fusion Ink Pad along with Journey White Embossing Powder and then heat set using the Journey Heat Gun. The beautiful, bold, bright stamped effect makes such a powerful statement on this layout and really stands out as such a lovely embellishment.

Also, the clamshell embellishment was designed for a note for a bridal element, but I simply inked up the stamp and then used a baby wipe to remove the ink from the center of the stamp before stamping it onto the cardstock so that all that was stamped was the outline of the clamshell!  It turned out PERFECT!

The patterned papers needed to be longer than 6" for my particular design, but I simply cut two strips the same width and then overlapped them so that the pattern matched up and staggered the seams of each pattern so that they all didn't fall in the same alignment. With some clever embellishing, it is hardly noticeable.

Sure, this layout would have been just fine with the stamps and patterned papers, but it is the embellishments that really help pull this layout together and give it the extra WOW factor!  I especially LOVE the way the Journey Thread Gold plays off of the color of the Summer Fun Chips and the color of the Oatmeal Cookie Cardstock. The Journey Sequins Blue Skies add just enough playfulness and sparkle to the bottom of the layout without being overpowering.

Of course, no beach layout would be complete without a little sunshine!  That is why the Sun Rays Die is absolute perfection for this upper left corner.  It is altered a bit and cut away from it's typical rectangular die shape, but that is what I love so much about this die....it is SO versatile and a MUST HAVE!  I felt that the Pineapple Smoothie Cardstock was a bit too bright up there and needed toned down a bit, so I layered some more Journey Thread Gold over the die-cut and then popped a stamped compass on top from the Nautical Sketch Stamp Set (SS-0261).

If you haven't shopped the Spring into Summer Catalog yet.........don't delay!  MUCH of it goes away June 30, 2016! EDITED: So THANKFUL to see Beach Soiree and Nautical Sketch were brought back with the NEW 2016-2017 Catalog Release! :)

  2. Gorgeous layout Tania! SOOOO love the color combo (perfect match of littles suit) and the cluster of sea life in the corner and the paper is too yummy! My favorite set from the new catalog (and summer release) has to be the Nautical Sketch...which was featured a bit with the compass. LOVE it! :)
