the thought of losing all that will make you stay awake all night 'fer sure!
anywho. here's what i'm talking about.

miss ashlyn.
every meal of every day since mom died she's prayed:
"Dear Jesus. Thank you for this food and for trying to help my mommy's mommy not die. And thank you for saving daddy's life when he was in the car accident. Amen (with a southern drawl)."
never changes.
and if we are hurridly getting dinner on the table or out of our normal routine, we sometimes start digging in without prayer. but ashlyn always, ALWAYS, always is the one to remember and remind us. with a great big "UH-OH." followed by "everyone stop. you know what we forgot to do?"
"Dear Jesus. Thank you for this food and for trying to help my mommy's mommy not die. And thank you for saving daddy's life when he was in the car accident. Amen."
it used to really choke me up and make me sad and put me in an all around funk. but, oh, the innocence.
now, it makes me laugh a little. but mostly smile.
it's her own special way of remembering Big Grammy.
So sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteOur kids always keep us on track as well "we forgot to pray!" or "are we going to church tomorrow?!?!" lol :)
