biopsy update.

i'm exhausted. i picked her up from school at 1:30pm and had to apply a thick layer of lidocaine cream and then cover it with saran wrap until her biopsies. that was no easy task trying to wrap her leg and hip. it was seriously weird, but we both got a good laugh out of it. anywho.

she was fine in the waiting room. it wasn't until we walked into the surgery room that she totally she totally freaked out. she was awake for the procedure and saw them prepping the surgical tray.....needles, scissors......it all freaks her out. she was scared to even get the marker drawings on her leg marking the biopsy sites. it was all a bit of sensory overload.

they gave only a few local shots to numb the area, after that she didn't feel anything, but still could see all the tools they were using, even though i tried to talk to her and use her baby doll to shield her view.

3 adults had to hold her down while she screamed bloody murder the whole time-----about 10 minutes. she was screaming "i can't breathe, i can't breathe" over and over---she was having a panic attack. that was the worst part for me. watching her and feeling her body go from fear into a full-blown panic attack. if you haven't experienced a panic attack, just trust me when i say----you literally feel like you are going to die. to see your baby go through one at such a young age just tore me apart inside.

she was fine after they were done, just hot and sweaty from all that hooting and hollering. but she's back to her spunky, hyperactive self.

the hardest problem is keeping her still to rest. she's already bumped it a few times and caused it to bleed a bit. she has mild bruising with 6 stitches. if she pops the stitches open they will NOT re-stitch, so it will take longer to heal. we go back Oct 6 to get the stitches out. the only news i have from the doctor is "it will take a week for the results, but don't be alarmed if it takes longer so we can get a second and third opinion."

Oy. so, now we sit and wait. i'll let you all know the results as soon as we have them. thank you for your prayers.
