In Loving Memory: During this 5-week course (one session per week) I will help spur you on to create an album dedicated to a loved one you have lost, all the while encouraging you to be gentle on yourself through the process. I will provide prompts and challenges to help you get your thoughts in order and onto the page, as well as suggestions for selecting photos and how to overcome the dilema of not having many photos at all. In addition, page sketches will be offered and a variety of embellishment techniques will be taught along the way.

There's not a better way to complete a treasured project than in the company of a supportive teacher who is on her own journey of remembrance after losing her mom very suddenly and unexpectedly the summer of 2007. “It’s scrapbooking as a healing therapy, not just art.”

  1. Our Easter traditions really aren't different. We dye eggs and have an egg hunt. BUT I did see in Walmart over the weekend an Easter Kit (can't remember the name-it is like the gingerbread house kit at Christmas BUT for Easter) The grandkids (and Kids) really enjoyed this at Christmas so I think I may add this as our new Easter tradition.

  2. Our Easter traditions are pretty simple also. We dye eggs and buy pretty new outfits. This year is going to be special being close to the grandchildren. My husband is always very creative in making up clues to find the hidden Easter baskets and I hope he continues that this year with the little ones.

  3. My kids are small so instead of dye eggs we sticker them. We use plastic eggs and decorate them with stickers. It FUN! seeing their creation. Then I will put little something in the eggs and hid them and have egg hunt. Nothing traditional just silly things I do with kids.

  4. Sigh-they are grown and gone. Grandchildren live many states away. I do make up a box to send them. When my boys were young-there was always a kite and bubbles. So now we do baskets for the local battered woman's children and one of my prospective daughter in laws works for Children's services. She's coming over this weekend so we can make up baskets for them. Love those little ones while you have them.

  6. We hollow out eggs (make a little hole in the top and bottom of an egg and blow out all the liquid on the inside. Then we decorate them and hang them on a tree braches that I stick in a pot with some floral foam and moss. It's cute! :) My dad passed almost 15 years ago and I still have not done a memorial album for him. It's something I dead doing because I know it will be emotional, yet I want to do so badly at the same time. I'd love a spot in your class! Thx! ~ML

  7. We always make Portuguese Sweet Bread and braid it. Then, the colored eggs are placed here and there within the braid (after it's baked). Looks lovely and tastes so good!

  8. Easter egg hunt in the house or outside. Then they open their easter basket. We always have ham for dinner and some fixings.

  9. Our Easter traditions are probably pretty similiar to everyone else's. Now that DS is 23 a lot of things have changed as far as the Easter Egg Hunt. The family still gets together & enjoys an Easter dinner together.

  11. I am pretty traditional when it comes to Easter. We dye the eggs the night before and then before they wake up the next day we hide all the eggs and a few treats (small toys and candy) and they wake up to the Easter bunny visiting. Then they hunt down all the stuff (I put names on the toys and candy because the older ones want to claim it all).

  12. NO Easter traditions here. We dont live near any other family so it usually is just another day. This class sounds like a wonderful one.

  14. Oh, our best Easter fun was dying eggs "green" style. (used cabbage, spices etc)

  15. We do the usual egg dying and hunting, but we also do a scavenger hunt. I make up clues that eventually lead to eggs with something fun in them (last year it was Littest Pet Shop animals). We also write messages on balloons and send them to Heaven for our little girl to get. Thanks for the chance to win the class.

  16. Our Easter traditions are ever changing as we have an almost 2 year old. But, it always include family. Last year, we saw the Easter Bunny at the mall, and saw my nephews in an Easter pageant at church. This year, I want to dye eggs and we are doing an Easter Egg hunt at church! Yay! Thanks!

  17. I didn't know you did classes - that's great!

We have pretty low key traditions... The Egg hunt is the best... my boys are older (12) and they have known for a while that Mom and Dad hide the eggs. We sort and fill different colored eggs ... everyone is assigned a color. Mom and dad hide the kids eggs in one part of the house... The kids hide our eggs in another part of the house. The boys have more fun hiding the eggs!

  18. We keep it simple at Easter, get together with family, color eggs, hunt eggs and just enjoy each other.

  19. My Easter traditions are quite inconsequential, My father would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. We would then find our Easter baskets which typically would contain such fun things as kitty litter, and twisty ties.

  20. My Easter traditions are:

    Coloring eggs (my favorite)
Hunting eggs at Georgia's Largest Easter egg hunt in Homer, GA
    Cooking a ham for supper

  21. The tradition we have that I think is "different" is one from my husband's family. We actually hide the baskets. It took a couple of years for us to learn that the boys either needed to consistently use the same basket or they needed to have name tags on them, but now it is a blast! One year DH hid the oldest's in the clothes dryer. That one took a bit (and lots of playing hot/cold) to find.

When my mother in law was still alive, my husband and I would have both sides of our family over every year, along with all the kids. Our immediate family is about 40 people. After a couple years of not so many coming, we've decided to just roll with it. We are going to a picnic with the kiddoes and cousins this year.

  23. Nothing different here. Easter Egg hunt, baskets (which we hide), church.

Well we don't do anything out of the ordinary. Dye eggs, new outfits for church. This year in their baskets I'm going to include summer sandals (flip flops for Abby) along with an outfit for each of them and of course candy :) We'll decorate eggs and have a little egg hunt. I'd love to win this class as I'm not sure I can jusify budgeting it in with Mark being laid off periodically :(

  25. We do the usual, dying eggs, seeing what the Easter Bunny brought in the baskets, going to grandparents. But this year, we have a French Exchange Student and Japanese Exchange student living with us, so....this will be their first Easter! So exciting to show everything to them.

  26. Our Easter tradition was to read The Easter Story to the kids every year. Of course we dye eggs, and have the baskets on Easter morning, but I really enjoyed them all sitting around me when they were little!

  27. As another person said my sons are grown, but when they were children and we didn't have much money we did not dye eggs because we wouldn't eat boiled ones and we couldn't waste $ on candy. So I would buy one gift and thats what got hidden. Most of the time the gift had to be hid inside because of bad weather. I remember the younger son wanted an umbrella and he was so surprised with it.
Since our move 5 yrs ago our church collects baskets and fills them for our children's shelter. We gladly help now that we can afford it.
    Have a great weekend!
