Video Tutorial featuring Sweet Summertime from Little Yellow Bicycle

i've been playing with my Little Yellow Bicycle supplies again. this time it's the new Sweet Summertime collection that shipped to stores last week!

i'm telling you, if you haven't gone to get yourself some yet-----you better not wait! the last 4 collections that they've released have sold completely out. :)

as you can see, this collection is full of vibrant colors. because they were much the same as the colors in the photos, i need a way to break up all the color. so this time around i chose to showcase a combination of the journaling cards (lots of white) as a design element mixed with smaller photos to create a 'grid-like' design.

sidenote: of course, i plan on adding actual journaling to them, it's just easier to leave it off during filming so it's not such a distraction.

along with the journaling cards, i wanted to show how to create dimensional pinwheels to look much like the non-dimensional ones in the Favorite Pieces sticker pack from this collection shown below.

the pinwheels are super easy and the dimensions can be changed to make a smaller or larger embellishment just by starting with a smaller square. you can see a quick----less than 5 minute video--- at the end of this post showing you the super simple process. i mean, they are so easy you can even make them with the kids!

here are more detail images of the layout that are clickable to make them larger. :)

small jewels accent the bows on the tail of the glittered chipboard kite, and the chipboard spinner with adjustable arrow doubles as the sunshine as i created the 'scene' of this layout.

and playful dragonflies are adhered to the glittered chipboard tree using foam dimensional adhesive.

you'll find the downloadable instructions by clicking this link: Sweet Summertime Layout Instructions.

and the coordinating video tutorial showing step-by-step how to put together the dimensional pinwheel. ENJOY! :)

  2. Love this layout! I like how you used all the bits and pieces, but the layout is pulled together so well. The white journaling tags remind me of clouds. Perfect!
