Fun with Border Dies from Fun Stampers Journey!

Have you seen the two new border die sets that are being offered in the Bloom This Way Spring Mini Catalog from Fun Stampers Journey!?

If you haven't, you're truly missing out!

I am obsessed......I mean......OBSESSED!  The dies in these two sets are seriously some of my favorites and I have used them on nearly every project I've created since I've received them.

They are the Border Basics Die Set DI-0144 which includes 4 dies measuring approx. 6 3/4" x 1 3/16": a basic scallop, a pierced scallop, a zig zag, and an alternating scallop.

And the Border Details Die Set DI-0147 which includes 5 dies measuring approx. 6 3/4" x 7/8" up to 2":

They are super versatile and very easy to incorporate into nearly any project making both sets a must have in your die inventory.

You'll see on this project here, I've used a die from each of the sets above to create this bright, colorful birthday card.  By combining the Black Licorice die-cut border strip cut from the arrow in the Border Details Die Set with the Journey Basics Black & White Paper, I've created a very striking and eye-catching design.

Then, I softened up the design with the addition of some softer colors of cardstock that have been also been dressed up.  From top to bottom we have:

  • Bubble Gum Cardstock stamped with the Linked Dots Stamp using Watermelon Fusion True Color Fusion Ink
  • Sweet Pear Cardstock sprayed with Limeade Color Splash
  • Pool Play Cardstock die-cut with the Scallop Die from the Border Basics Die Set
  • And, another Bubble Gum Cardstock stamped with the Linked Dots Stamp using Watermelon Fusion True Color Fusion Ink

After adding those strips in between the bold Black and White, you're ready to add finishing touches to your card.

To finish off my card, I simply cut out a small star from Bubble Gum Cardstock using the Star-Dom Die Set and flicked some Bubble Gum Silk on it.  While it was drying I stamped a piece of Whip Cream with the Ink Splat ATS and Limeade Splash True Color Fusion Ink Pad, then layered my birthday sentiment over top from the Birthday Greetings Stamp Set using the Black Licorice True Color Fusion Ink Pad.  The stamped image was detail cut just outside the edge of the stamped design. Both the sentiment and the star are adhered using foam squares.

The final embellishments are die-cut flowers cut using the Spring Bloom Minis Die along with Watermelon Fusion Cardstock.  Two flowers are layered together with a foam square in between to give dimension and finished off with a Candy Mini center, and then placed on the card front so that they form a visual triangle.

All the supplies seen on this card are from Fun Stampers Journey and are linked directly to their online store below!  Happy shopping!
